I have posted this before, I think, but as that day approaches, I go back to one of my favorite pictures. I took it at Hou Hai one chilly day a few years ago. I love the many contrasts in the photo. It captures Xmas in Beijing!

Well, I know it’s been a few months since writing here. So, let me take today, my birthday, to fill in some info about me! This is a good day to reflect. Like many times in life, we encounter changes that we did not anticipate. That is natural. It is how you deal with change [...]
Flew into San Francisco first…and spent a long weekend with friends and family..Cool to hang out next to the water..Pier 39 on a weekday is good, weekend too busy! Watched the seals laying in the sun getting suntanned..it is their adopted home. Then hung out with with few friends I know from the time they [...]

I skate in the bicycle lanes. If you skate, stay in that area and skate safely! Too many reports of accidents lately involving skaters.
I went to [...]
How are you guys doing? It is just after the Chinese New Year and things are getting back to normal. I spent the Spring Festival doing local things: visiting places around Beijing, eating dumplings, playing with fireworks, hanging out with friends, etc. Tried to flow with the festivities. Now it is back to life in [...]
Quite a busy time in between New Years. Including some very cold days and nights! Good time to find warmth! Watched the Obama Inauguration after midnight late Tuesday. So impressive. My shirt says “Obama Ohana” which means the “family” of Obama. I lived in Hawaii the same time Obama was in school. He probably heard [...]
